April One Monthly Goal

Yay, it is time to link up April's One Monthly Goal!!  Boy, I sure hope I do better this month than last.  Not to worry though, I was way ahead in January and very close in February.

My American Patchwork & Quilting's UFO Challenge # for April is #9.  Hello Windmill Quilt.  I love you and am excited to get you into a finished top stage.  You will also be my One Monthly Goal.

I have 5 blocks done and 15 to go.  The strip piecing is done, but I still need to cut out wedges for half of them.  The border pieces are also strip sewn together.  My hopes is that I can make 4 blocks and one border a week.

By the way...drum roll please...

Masterpiece returned from the quilter.  Yay, this baby just needs a binding!

She did a lovely job!!

FNwF, Princess overload, & Late To Do Tuesday

 I got quite a bit done this weekend.  My daughter came with three kids in tow.  We sewed together, and I enjoyed the grands.

My Masterpiece top is done complete with border.  The backing is pieced as well and ready for quilting.  The binding is cut but not sewn yet.  It measures 91 x 107. It is massive!!

I also made this little Santa block.

My daughter worked on her princess quilt and has begun putting the castle together.  She added a princess (princess and the frog).  I am waiting to see how hers turns out - fitting it into the castle - with the extra one before I decide to make her or not.  She looks gorgeous though!  I have never seen that one, so I am not so attached.

Here is a look at her blocks side by side with the ones I have made.  I still need to do embroidery work on all of mine.

The next ones were made by my daughter.  I have not started them yet.  Somehow I didn't get a photo of her Cinderella.  Shootdang.  She is my favorite princess of all.

To Do Tuesday - very very late To Do Tuesday I might add. I had my goals written down but never got a post done.  It was a super busy week with parent/teacher conferences, nails, and meetings.

Last week's goals:

1. Finish Masterpiece blocks - 7 to go.  ✔

2. Assemble Masterpiece top ✔

3. Plan borders, backing, and binding for Masterpiece ✔

4.  Some Embroidery ✔

5.  Lose 1 lb. ✔

Yes, I got them all accomplished.

This week's goals were to:

1. Make a Santa Block
2. Lose 1 lb.
3. Plan fabric for princess blocks
4. Plan fabric for nutcracker block

Happy Mail - To Do Tuesday

 Orders arrived in my post office box yesterday.   It is so fun - like Christmas.  Instead of fabric, I received embroidery floss and a couple of Crab-Apple Hill Patterns.

Since I am switching to 3 strands and doing 9 blocks instead of 3, I needed more floss.  There is floss in these photos for two large projects.  I wasn't sure about what greens, so I ordered a little bit of a variety to have something to choose from.

Here is my added progress after Chooky's Zoom session tonight.  The blue is done and the red is just getting started.

I love how Crab Apple Hill's patterns show you exactly where to stitch all of one color in the pattern.

Look at these adorable patterns that arrived!  There is a little village inside the glass.  It is part of another set of "Deck the Halls" patterns that I ordered last year.

I also fell in love with Grandma's Christmas Kitchen.

I think it will go nicely with blocks from Kimberbell's "We Wisk You a Merry Christmas" blocks I hope to make some day.

One of the Zoom ladies, Christine, was making an adorable embroidered dice.  When she told me it was a free pattern from Ellie's Quilt Place, I had to go check it out.  The other sides are gardening, baking, and more sewing.  I think I need to make one for my friend.

I also downloaded this cute little Christmas Diddy.  I adore the stockings hung between the two trees.  This pattern was free as well. Sure hope to live to get all of these embroidery patterns stitched.

Masterpiece has really been growing this month!

 It is so rare for me to focus on only one quilt at a time.  I am really seeing how quickly it can grow with focus.

Here is what she looked like Jan 1st.

This is where she is at now.  I have made 82 blocks for this quilt in January.  There are 32 more blocks to go for a finish.

My Sand Dollar blocks have finally been neatly trimmed to size.  They look so much better.  I am halfway done with these blocks.

360 Blocks Challenge 2022 AND 1 block short

I am participating in the 350 blocks challenge by Prairie Moon again this year.  

Last year I came close with a total of 316 blocks.  I don't really get caught up in trying to make 350, I just think it is fun to count my blocks during the year.  If getting 350 blocks means I have to start new projects without finishing old ones, then never mind.  It does look like I'm off to a great start though!

    After careful counting, I thought I was done making these rectangle blocks.  Nope, I was one short.  Oh well.  I suppose I'm off to finish it.  Next, I will be making triangles 60 triangle blocks for the final outside of the quilt.

22 Sand Dollar blocks

New Topic:  I had a moment today to photograph my December finishes.  I love seeing all those bindings done.  I am not so good at posting the sizes of my quilts, but Diamond Hill is 99 x 99.  You can see that the sizes go down from there as they all lay side by side.

Left to right:  Diamond Hill, Dear Jane, Tom Turkey, Feathered Goose, and Sweet N Simple.  

Every one of these were pretty labor intensive.  

Let me show off the lovely quilting the Kristi Quilt Fairy did - love it!  It was super scary for me to let someone else quilt this one, but I am so so glad I did.
