Deana: A finish and Dear Jane Progress

Yippy I got another finish!  Below is a quilt for my daughter, Jessi.  I designed it several years ago and have made several since.  I call it "Hexagons in Rotation".  I did not put a lot of quilting in it but I am happy with the results none the less.  It still needs the hand work on the binding.

I have also made progress on Dear Jane.  Several of these blocks were made in May but I forgot to post them.  Here goes:

Top Row:
H7 Bennington Star has 25 pieces and was regular pieced.
H8 Eaton's Crossroads has 19 pieces and is paper pieced and appliqued.
H9 Snowflake Melt has 33 pieces and is entirely paper pieced.
H10 Ben's Bowtie has 26 pieces and is regular pieced.

Middle Row:
H11 Piercing Rays has 24 pieces and is paper pieced.
H12 Hannah Lou's Hearts has 5 pieces - applique
H13 Farm Fields has 7 pieces - paper pieced
I1 Ralph & Nelda's Wedding has 20 pieces - regular pieced

Bottom Row:
I2 Kaye's Courtyard has 13 pieces - regular pieced
I4 Stability has 25 pieces - regular pieced and applique
I5 Maria's Majesty has 6 pieces - applique
I11 Coyote Chase has 6 pieces - applique

TOTAL DEAR JANE PIECES TO DATE IS 2,316.

I took a couple of different angle pictures of all my completed Dear Jane blocks.  I am starting row 9 and there are 13 total.  I hope that if I make 2 blocks a week I can finish the main blocks this year.  The borders will have to be a 2015 project.

I piled my last three finished up on my dresser for a photo.  Man they look SO GOOD!   Those three quilts are years in the making.  The purple one went together within a year, but I purchased the fabric for it years before I even started it.  This is fun!

Deana: Jessi's Log Cabin Quilt done!

I finally finished this huge quilt!  I am SO HAPPY!   You can hardly see any of the quilting in it because it has busy fabric patterns, but all in all I am pleased that it turned out and more pleased to have it done (all except 3 more sides of binding.)  I love to bind so it will get done today.  I wanted to photograph it in natural sunlight instead of tonight.

You can barely see that I started it on the right side.

3. Finish this Windmill quilt top complete with borders.

Because of all the inquiries I have received over a pattern for this quilt, I am working on a pattern for it and will post it in my Etsy shop soon.  I will post a link on my blog when it is ready.  Please leave a comment with your email if you would like an email when it is ready.

Before:

After: Top done but not the borders.  FINISHED MAY 10, 2014

Here is a photo of the progress I made on the borders.  It is a pieced border and a bit detailed.

4.  Make 8 more Windmill blocks for the second quilt I am making out of them.  It is the exact same colors.
Finished March 31

5.  I hope to finish the quilting for Mom's quilt  in March.
Finished March 8th
Before:
After:

6. Make ten more blocks in my Christmas Log Cabin quilt.
FINISHED MARCH 17, 2014

Before:
After:

 7.  Finish kitting my round robin.  It needs to arrive at its new home by March 15th.  I cannot post a picture because it is a secret.  We all sent each other fabric and the receiver selects a pattern, cuts it out, kits it, and sews up the first kit.  The owner of the quilt will receive a finished quilt at the end.

Finished March 7, 2014

8.  Design a quilt for the red and white quilt challenge.

Finished March 7th 2014
The first one is for my daughter and is called Jessi's Medallion.  If you are interested in joining a sew-along for it please leave a comment.  More information here.

9.  Machine quilt and bind Jessi's Log Cabin.

Not Finished in March but FINISHED MAY 17, 2014.
I made progress but it is hard to see.  The threads you see are basting stitches.

Deana: Lots done so far this week...

I have been sewing this week, but I have also been designing.  Linking up with  Freshly Pieced (WIP Wednesday) and Esther's WOW Wednesday.

I have been working on some of my March goals this week.  First off is Jessi's Log Cabin.  I am machine quilting it on my Bernina.  You can see the basting stitches all over.  I have a lot of the general outlining done.  I have not yet begun the "pretty" stuff.

I have also made 10 more blocks for my Christmas Log Cabin, I need to make ten more to make it look balanced, but that will happen next month.  It is the same pattern as the one above.  This one will be for me.

I have also made progress on 6 Windmill blocks for my other daughter.

I am so excited to reveal "Jessi's Medallion" that I designed for my daughter.  I  finalized the design just this week and plan to get started on it in April.  If anyone would like to make it with me online, please leave a comment or email me at mamiebudgeese@hotmail.com.  There is also a link  below to more information about it.

Want to do a sew along?   It will be fun!  Click this link to find out more.

I am also submitting this design to the Red and White Quilt Challenge.  The places that look black will actually be a dark/deep red.

I flipped a few blocks on this one, so it has a little different look in the center.

Deana: Whip Wednesday and WOW

Here is the update on my progress the past couple of days:

I have basted Mom's quilt for machine quilting.

I am currently basting Jessi's Log Cabin quilt for machine quilting.

I have made four more windmill blocks for Jessi's quilt.  Sorry, they are on the design wall next to Dear Jane and still need applique centers.

Christmas Log Cabin

I found this quilt online today.  I just love the pattern so much!  I just finished Jessi's purple one like it here and have begun a Christmas fabric one for me here.  I re-sized it because it was WAY TOO BIG after I got Jessi's done.  My Christmas one will need the extra blocks shown in the one this links too.

Fun fun fun!

Some finishes by Deana

Well, the last week of the year and I finally got some finishes.  Below is a picture of the trapunto quilt I made for Mariella this year for our Christmas quilt swap.

I also finished, with the help of my sisters and mother in a round robin, this beautiful quilt for my daughter's hope chest.  It is so big!  I am making me one in Christmas prints and I think I will resize it before going any further.  It hangs clear to the floor on a queen sized bed.  I am not even going to add any borders.
