Retreat was wonderful and we missed you all who couldn't attend!

DAY #1:

Lyn worked on an Amish quilt pattern Dad bought for her.  It is a beautiful purple dahlia.

Felicity spent the day blanket stitching around her monsters.

Becky came in the evening and got a good start on her witch hat quilt.

Deana finished all of her "Granny Went Star Crazy" half-square triangles and assembled the center of the quilt top.  She also pieced three seam rippers for her sewing notions quilt project (not pictured).

Jodi came and worked on a levi quilt that is squares of denim and red cotton.  It is pretty.  She is trying to make one for all her kids (6).

D A Y  # 2 :

Jodi continued to work on her levi quilt and started making aprins for her girls.

Becky got a little further on her witch quilt.

Felicity assembled two monster quilts for her darling little boys.

Mom spent a good chunk of the day working with the center circle on her Dahlia and working in/fixing some full spots.  We thought her quilt center would make a cute skirt or even a tree skirt.

Tracy joined us by picking apart her miniatures.  She decided to frame each of them in black and quilt them individually when we told her how great Marie's looked on her wall.

We celebrated Felicity's birthday.  She said it was a perfect day.

Deb joined us again.  She worked on assembling her sampler quilt.  Last year she brought it so we could figure out how to complete it.  She was fortunate to locate the exact background fabric after nearly 14 years.

Deana got three sides of her tiny little flying geese border attached to her miniatures -- it takes F O R E V E R !!

D A Y  # 3 :

Tracy bound two quilts, the one in the photo below (beautiful) and her Buggy Barn Witch quilt (not pictured).

She amazed me because I didn't realize just how truly "hooked" she is to quilting.  She brought several project for "show n tell" and a couple of humanitarian tops that were darling.

Mom finished her entire top.  I didn't get a completed pict. but it is done.

Becky also went home with a top done.  Notice the darling brooms as the borders.

Felicity began a new project.

Deb completed her sampler top and brought many treasures to show including a hand pieced hexagon quilt and some antique blocks saved by her daughter, Faye, while helping someone move.

Deana made 18 nine patch blocks for "Omigosh".  She also has 30 of the shoefly blocks close to assembly stage (not pictured).  She also began assembly on her Dear Jane rows.

Fall Retreat - Felicity & Kit

Here is the group that attended our little retreat Wed night - Sunday: Becky, Lyn, Deb W, Deana, Deb B, Jolynn, Jessi, and Felicity. Jodi took the photo.

JUST REMEMBER that this was NOT a beauty trip. We spent little time looking great and lots of time sewing.

Felicity made witches...
This was the first one she completed.
She also completed a Santa wallhanging. The eyes and mustaches will be added after it is quilted.
Her Buggy Barn witches were done in WONDERFUL COLORS! We were all envious.

Kit joined us on Saturday in the other room doing his leather work. It was great to visit with him.

Fall Retreat - Jodi & Deana

Jodi also made Buggy Barn witches. Her family was busy and sick, so she only sewed with us one day. She did sew more at home, though. I hope she will post her progress for us to see because I don't have any photos.

The next two photos are of the Mariner's Compass quilt Felicity made last year. I set in her little circles on the side and quilted it for her last year. It's a beauty!



I got the borders on Justin's Buggy Barn Jack-o-lantern quilt.


I joined (with Deb B's help) the blocks and put broom borders on Jolynn's Buggy Barn cat and witch quilt.

I also started and completed this black, white, and red Buggy Barn "Going in Circles" top for Jolynn's future wedding.

Fall Retreat - the girls

Jolynn and Jessi began a star/log-cabin Buggy Barn quilt. They each took a day to sew and a day to baby sit Felicity's boys. They ENJOYED their vacation very much! We are going to put their quilts aside for their future weddings once they are completed.

Fall Retreat - Deb and Deb

Deb B also made the Monkey Business quilt in beautiful autumn, scrappy colors. She got her top completely finished also. I didn't get any photos, but she also completed a Santa quilt like Felicity's.



Deb W. completed three old projects as far as possible and got a good start on another. I didn't get photos of them all.
This is her first sampler quilt which brings back memories for me. I drove home on weekends to teach some friends quilting many many years ago. I taught a sampler quilt so as to teach the ladies several quiting techniques. Deb and LaWana both had purchased kits for a sampler, and the kits didn't have enough fabric in them. I redid the kits and added black fabric. This quilt is what she ended up with. She got it all together except for the larger outer setting triangles (she had to purchase more fabric) and borders.


In addition to these she completed a denim quilt with circles -- the type you snip the seams and let them rag. She also got a good start on appliqueing hearts onto her daughter's Merry Miss quilt.
Here is a star quilt she put borders on. It is now ready for her to quilt.

Retreat - Becky

Becky started and nearly finished her little witch. Here is a before photo and then an after photo. She did all of the buttonhole stitch BY HAND! She hoped to get her quilted but didn't quite get that far.


The hoop is still attached. Becky added additional eyelashes, warts, moles, and eyebrows to what the pattern suggested.

Becky shows us her mini samplers that we did two years ago at this same retreat. She has the log cabins completed and ready to put together. She hoped to get it finished, but I'm sure she'll get to it soon.

Retreat - Lyn

Mom made a Buggy Barn pattern also -- Monkey Business. The Snail's Trail or Monkey Wrench pattern has always been a fav for her.


Here is the finished top; it is stunning!
