Deana: I am so glad to have this done...

I have my second finish of the year!  Yay!  I will be linking up with my challenge groups:

1st Quarter Finish Along and  my original goal list

Patchwork Times UFO Challenge and #10 on my original numbered list
PHD Challenge @Quilting Gail
One Monthly Goal

I have had to really force myself to quilt on this the last couple of days.  I think we sometimes just get that itch to finish and move on.  Machine quilting is something I do to save money paying someone else to do it, but it isn't my favorite thing to do.  I am pleased with how it has turned out, although it is far from perfect.  I hope Felicity is happy with it.

I designed this quilt as part of a family mystery quilt project.  They were all asked to make any block of their choice - 5 of them in a certain finished size.  Felicity chose a woodsy theme with machine applique'.  As I studied the pattern, I realized that we could make a very minor adjustment and turn a border section into pine trees.  I think this design idea really added to her quilt.

I am SO EXCITED  to have a whole week left in the month to work on something fun.  Hmm...what will I choose to do?

Deana: Woodsy quilting is moving along

I am coming along nicely on getting the Woodsy quilt quilted.  I had today off but the rest of my weekend was packed with my niece's wedding, so I hope to have it done sometime this week.  Here is the progress.

The main sections are all outlined.  Filler quilting will fall in later.

A cowboy with his pack horse is a traditional thing for my family.  This quilt belongs to my siser-in-law and her husband often takes the family into the mountains on horses like this.  I hope she likes it.  I chose a veriagated thread.  I wanted the detailed quilting to pop because it tells a story.

Deana: Grand Illusion is quilted!

I spent my days after work this past week and most of the day Saturday quilting this one.  It was a Bonnie Hunter Mystery.  I didn't like how busy mine turned out so I changed the layout and blocks with the pieces I had already made.  I really like it better now that it is quilted.

Here is the back.

I attached the binding by machine tonight and will work toward doing the hand finishing.

Deana: Another one quilted this year!

I am so in love with this quilt that I think I am going to gradually cut  the pieces to make it from leftovers until I have enough to make one.  This quilt was part of a family round robin a couple years back and belongs to my sister-in-law Felicity.  We each sewed a few rows together and then added it to the main quilt so when it returned to her it was complete.  I truly miss those family round robin days!

Merry Christmas from my home to yours!  Yes, that is a live tree which is our tradition.  I think it is a beauty!  There are 11 stockings under my tree this year because my famiy is growing.  My husband and I, two daughters with husbands and babies, my parents are coming, and one stocking  belongs to my son who will spend his Christmas in Germany serving a church mission.  Oh how I eagerly await his return in July.

I laid my new Christmas present quilt on a bed in the house.  It looks great there!  This room is my happy place!  It is where I baste my quilts to prep them for quilting.

Granny Went Star Crazy is quilted!

Oh does it ever feel good to have another quilt so close to finished!   I did basic outline quilting and not much else.  It really didn't need more and the quilting could not really be seen anyway with the busy fabrics.  The binding is attached by machine and just needs the hand stitching on the other side.

One quilt bound - another one outline quilted!

Yippy!  I officially have my Stashbee quilt from two years ago completely finished!  It is called Flowering Snowball and has blocks from around the world.  I love it!  I know I showed that it was quilted a couple of days ago, but I wanted to show it again all bound.

This was my One Monthly Goal for July, my OPAM for July, and my Patchwork Times draw number for July.  Thank you blogland for giving me reasons to finish projects!

Here is a snippet of the back.

On a side note, I got Jodi's Lattice all outlined and ready to fill in with the pretty stuff.  I hope to have it done this week.
