Another row done!

I have actually spent quite a bit of time in my sewing room lately.  I completed another row for my group's round robin.  It was a fun one because I love house blocks.

The pictures below show my row with hers.

I am also busily cutting out and preparing applique' for two more row quilts.  Farm Sweet Farm by Lori Holt has been a favorite pattern of mine for a few years.  I have had fabric selected and waiting to start it for some time now, in fact, I plan to make a scrappy one as well which makes two quilts for me.  It is a little nutso of me to even think of doing two because there is a lot of applique' on it and I intend to do it all needle turn.  Well, as I received this month's round robin row, I decided some blocks in the Farm Sweet Farm pattern were perfect.  I also got a sneak peak at the next round robin I will be receiving, and it needs the same row.  The way  I figure, if you are cutting out one, you may as well cut out four.  Yes, I am a crazy lady.  I am cutting and preparing itty bitty pieces for four different Farm Sweet Farm quilts.  It has really been fun.

The pieces below will be done with fusible appliqué.  There are so many.

These are my fabric picks for my quilt.

These pieces are traced onto either freezer paper or fusible interfacing, both used for hand applique.

Here are a few fused and cut pieces for my friend's row quilts. I need to stitch the faces before fusing them.

Mine are being prepared Lori Holt style with fusible interfacing.

I am having a mid-month crisis! I want to accomplish way too much each night after work!  I am teaching a wonky house class in three weeks and need to get the quilt top assembled and quilted.  Don't worry, at least the blocks are done and I will have someone else quilt it.

I also have a little boy who is wanting a John Deer Green Tractor scripture bag.  Little boys are super important, so that is high on my list as well.  I would also like to get these four farm quilts fused down and prepared for stitching and cut out the rest of my Aurora blocks.  I have the bug, now all I need is time.

  1. You are just the absolute Queen of Perfect Fabric Picks! Do you shop and stash build specifically with your house projects in mind? Where did you find the print with those wonderful windows, exactly the right scale for your house blocks? And the fabric you selected for the denim jeans and the aprons is just amazing. I also admire the way you shifted the gingham for the man's shirt fabric slightly instead of cutting it straight on the pattern the way most of us would. The way you did it is much more realistic to how the shirt would look when someone is wearing it and moving around. You convey so much personality and realism in your work; I just love it! Good luck on tackling all of those projects at once. If anyone can do it, you can!

  7. That looks like such a happy neighbourhood. Putting those people together looks complicated.

  8. Those house blocks are really cute. You've definitely jumped in feet first with the applique projects. Sounds like you've got plenty to keep you busy as the daylight gets scarce this fall and winter.

  9. You are one busy lady! I can't imagine four Farm Sweet Farm quilts and the same time. Good for you. I love the house blocks and all the little fussy cut pieces in them.

  10. Oh my - you do set yourself some goals! Bit yes, if you are cutting for one - cut multiples!

  11. oh yes you are nuts but I do like your thinking of doing more than one at a time. I did an applique workshop in Sydney on the weekend and the teacher said she made 3 versions of a couple of quilts from her book at the same time thinking that she wouldn't do them seperately
