This has been a fun month! I am totally in love with this project. And it's ready for my sister's birthday!
I started with this embroidery that I have been working on since Christmas.
Then I watched a bunch of Youtube videos on making Square Japanese Rice Bags. This was my favorite.
I sewed together some pink strings for the fabric bits I wanted to include on the panels.
Then I assembled the side panels and fused on a woven shaping interfacing to the back.
And then sewed two strips of fabric together for the tabs that hold the drawstrings. Cut that into 4 pieces.
Now it was ready to make the box. I sewed the 5 panels together. Repeated for the lining. Then putting right sides together, I had this! I love the technique in the video for making the box!
Happy sewing!
