Grand Illusion Mystery
Find out more about Bonnie Hunter's new mystery here. I have no idea how these blocks will be arranged, but this is how I was playing with them last night. I am making this quilt entirely from my stash.
I have about 1/4 of Part 1 done (green, pink, black units)
I have 1/2 of Part 2 done (pink, black, white units)
I just got started on Part 3 (blue, black, white units)
Yes, I started about two weeks behind but am slowly getting caught up. I can't wait to see what all of these units will turn into.
Mystery Family Round Robin
My family started doing a round robin two years ago. The group includes Mom, me, my two sisters, and my two sister-in-laws. It is so fun that we all quilt! We are on our third round.
The first round: We all selected our own pattern and fabric. We cut it all out and passed to each other each month with a regular rotation. Those who planned well and sewed some on their own at home ended up with a queen sized finished quilt. One rule we have is to sew the blocks together as we go so it comes back to us finished minus our own row/column.
The second round: We drew names and planned a quilt for the person's name we drew. Mom had given us all fabric for Christmas so we all just put the fabric in for our "designer" to use. We all had to add fabrics to what we got for Christmas so we all ended up with a queen sized quilt top when we finished.
The third round: We drew names again and all started with the exact same fat quarter bundle. We all added fabric to it of our choice trying to find something the quilt owner would love. Here are some pieces of the one I am working on now. I can't do a full reveal until February.
Quilter's Garden Mystery
I have been working on the new row for January. Here is a sneak peak which does not give you any real clues at all.
I also have half of the horse quilt bound - yay! It was a productive Monday!

Busy girl!!
ReplyDeleteMy sentiments exactly - BUSY GIRL! Love your header.
ReplyDeleteLots of good stuff happening! It's great that you have so many quilters in your family for your round robin. I love your fabric selection for the Grand Illusion mystery.
ReplyDeleteYour mystery looks great! Love some of those fabrics!
ReplyDeleteI just really love that polka dot fabric in your mystery quilt. I think it's brilliant to use it in place of a solid (like solid white). Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour mystery quilt fabrics are so nice - isn't it fun to play with the patches for pictures while we wait and wonder how the different pieces will fit together? LOVE the colors for your January row!
