Deana: ALYofF August Goals +

Don't forget to link up your August goal Fiber of All Sorts.

I have several goals on the list for August, and they are listed below, but for the "Lovely Year of  Finishes" project I can only select one for this month.   That one goal is to quilt and bind this wonderful quilt that my mom and sisters made for me in our "surprise" round robin last year.  It was a surprise because we mailed off some fabric and a sister or mom decided what to do with it.  They kitted it for 6 people and we passed them around for 6 months with a big surprise reveal at the end.  It was SO MUCH FUN!  It also bonded us as sisters.  P.S.  I count my two sister-in-laws as sisters and they participated too.

I will be giving the quilt to my daughter who is currently in Russia serving a mission for our church.  She can put it away for her wedding some day.

I have it on the frames ready to start basting.

FINISHED August 29
Aside from "A Lovely Year of Finishes" I also have the following goals for August:

1.  Cut out and kit the "surprise" round robin for the next round.  We are all starting with the same 9 fat quarters and can add anything to it we want.  I can't wait to see what we all end up with.

2.  8 Dear Jane Blocks

3.  Baste the second Windmill quilt for quilting.
FINISHED Aug 19

Because of all the inquiries I have received over a pattern for this quilt, I am working on a pattern for it and will post it in my Etsy shop soon.  I will post a link on my blog when it is ready.  Please leave a comment with your email if you would like an email when it is ready.

4.  Design and piece the horse quilt.  Applique on it is not expected to be done this month.  The first photo shows the pattern for the horse and the size of it on the top of a queen sized bed.
FINISHED Aug 16
The photo below shows my sketch of what the top of the bed will look like.  The horse goes in the center circle and will spill over into the black in places.

5.  Baste mom's birthday quilt.  My sisters, me, and mom go in together for birthdays and buy each other fabric.  This is what she made with her birthday fabric this year.  I LOVE it!
FINISHED Aug 13

6.  Sew 10 Christmas Log Cabin Blocks

7.  Design the first row for the Mystery Row Quilt Swap.  Click the link to find out more and leave a comment to join.  I will be revealing the theme and first row soon.
FINISHED Aug 21

8.  Write a pattern for the Windmill Quilt to sell.

  1. Love your August goals, Deana! How fabulous that your daughter went to Russia. I'll bet you worry about her sometimes, though. She's going to have so much to share when she gets back.
