There has been a bit of sewing and putting puzzles together happening at Dreamworthy Quilts this past week. There has also been a calm Christmas, time with family and friends, and a tragic loss of a good neighbor. We continue to look for the positive moments to be grateful for and move more steps forward than backward in our goals and ambitions. Life is to be enjoyed, and it begins with perspective.
In The Sewing Room
I added a row of sunglasses to a beach themed row quilt. I am loving this little round robin.
I have a bit more stitching to finish the mane and tail on the horse for this row quilt. You can tell in the hooped area. This is identical to another row I made previously.
I still have more pieces to glue baste on my two other Farm Sweet Farm quilts.
Things have been busy since my last post in October. We did a family motorcycle camp trip that was super fun. We even trick or treated around the camp.
My grandson got a bad friction burn from his motorcycle tire. He tipped over, got pinned under while the throttle got stuck on, and it chewed right through his jeans and knee.
He had to go up to the Salt Lake City Burn Center for a lengthy stay for skin grafts. They removed skin from his thigh for the graft. It is healing very nicely, and he has not let it slow him down at all.
I was able to take a turn at the hospital with him for a weekend. Entertaining an active 6 year old who is hooked to wires in bed was a tricky deal, but we did have fun times. We played on the floor, built a lego truck, and shot down little magnetic creatures with a nerf gun.
When I wasn't at work or with him, I was tending his other 4 siblings so mom and dad could go 3 hours away to the hospital to be with him. Many neighbors and church members stepped up to help so much. They took turns with kids, brought in meals, and showered our boy with hospital activities and gifts.
Halloween found me with my math team dressed as dominos and one witchy one (me).
We also had a friend wedding where my grands were ring bearers and flower girls.
In December I attended my 2nd grade grand's Christmas program.
We also mourned at a friend's funeral this past week. I lead the music, my son was a pall bearer, and my husband spoke. My son is the short one in brown.
His wife took his final ride with him to the cemetery in a horse drawn buggy.
2026 plans
Yes. I am hosting the Chookshed Challenge again this year. Yay! I truly love participating with you all. Watch for a post tomorrow and uou can participate by making a list numbered from 1 - 10 of your goals. I will draw a new number each month, January through October 2026 to guide us through a fun sewing year.
