Deana: Blogger's Quilt Festival Entry #1

Welcome Quit Festival Bloggers!  My festival entry #1 is my Lacy Daisy quilt.  I think it qualifies for the "scrappy quilt category". I just LOVE scrappy quilts and consider them to be my favorite.  I enjoy taking a bunch of lonely scraps that seem to have no place to call home and joining them to other pieces to make something beautiful.

Lacy Daisies has special meaning to me because it is one of my earliest designs.  It was the first time I added trapunto to a quilt and sadly the last.  You can see it in the border.  Trapunto is beautiful but a ton of work.

Lacy Daisies features simple piecing with rectangles and squares and is embellished with a hand embroidery vine which gives the quilt its character.  My favorite part is the embroidery but up next are the delightful "Lacy Daisies" in the center of the alternate blocks.  I think the hand blanket stitch gives the quilt a happy, country, dainty look.

I have always felt this quilt looks like it belongs at Grandma's house with the washed, used, loved look.  I love this quilt!

I recently refurbished the pattern and made it available in PDF for download.  The updated vine is more modern but still dainty.  You can get the pattern at Etsy or Craftsy.  Just follow the links.

Below is a close up of a daisy block.

  1. Deana your quilt is beautiful!. I tried trapunto on a small block once. It's a lot of work I agree. The kind I did was with colorful yarn so you saw a hint of color through the white fabric on the front. I still never made the block into anything.

  3. Very cute. Those daisies are adorable, but they are totally set off with the scrappy alternate blocks. The embroidery really makes the total appeal, though. Love it.
