Val's Tuesday Archives is hosting a linky party this week about foundation paper piecing. I am showing my Dear Jane quilt because many of the blocks are paper pieced.
All of the Dear Jane blocks below were paper pieced. One has some applique' as well.
I would further like to add my advice for paper piecing.
1. Score the paper before you sew. I like to use the back side of a dull seam ripper and a clear ruler. I place the ruler on the sew lines and lightly score the lines. Why? It makes folding the paper down so easy.
2. While the paper is folded down you can easily see the shape and location of the next piece through the paper. It helps SO MUCH with fabric placement.
I am linking up with Val's Quilting Studio. Go over and check out everyone's paper pieced projected.

OMGosh it's perfect and I love the fabrics. Need to get back to mine. I have my Aunt Reen's 13 Month's of Jane to get me going again, but it's not helping unless I do it.....grin.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness is that a GORGEOUS quilt!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips. Some ladies in our guild started a Dear Jane group. I am not one of them--these were just toooooo tiny for me! But your post shows it can be done.
ReplyDeleteI did not realize Dear Janie included paper piecing. Thanks for the good tip! Your quilt is lovely.
ReplyDeleteDJ would be a nightmare if not for the powers of paper, right? :)
ReplyDeleteHow do I get the patterns/book for the Quilters Garden Quilt? I love, love your quilt and I would really love to make your quilt top. I hope it's not to late to make one. ♡
