15 min & Quilty Ladies progressing and a new mystery

Daisy is done!  Hooray!  I love these Crazy Quilty Ladies, but I really want to get this quilt done.

Esther is progressing as well, but not quite finished. She will get neatly pressed when I am done scrunching her up while I embroider her measuring tape hair tie.

I also started a mystery quilt.  My friend, Janice  @Jannimary.blogspot.com, posted about it and I guess I got sucked in.  I enjoy mysteries, but what I love more is doing them with a friend.

The free spring, Mother's Day mystery is hosted by Laundry Basket Quilts.  Janice says she likes her mysteries better than some others.

My fabric selected began by searching my stash for 2 1/2 yards of background fabric.  I found this homeless/projectless Batik piece that has 3 yards.  Perfect.

Step 2:  find some greens because the first week of the mystery calls the blocks "stems" and I know there will be applique' flowers.  This bit was a little harder as my green stash is pretty low.  I chose a black instead.  The first month's blocks actually split the leaves into two fabrics, so I pulled a brown to accompany my black.

Step 3:  find stash fabrics to go with my background and greenery/blackery.

I think they will all go very nice together.  Being able to make something beautiful out of leftover scraps and homeless fabric purchases really makes me smile.  Also, I prefer not to go out and purchase fabric for a mystery in case I don't end up loving the pattern.

This mystery is not very time consuming yet.
Cut pieces...

Last week an attempt was made to make another exchange block:  Trip Around the World.  The only problem was the quilter requested solid black and mine was no where to be found.

As I was rummaging through the stash looking for fabrics to make my mystery out of, wa la...  It showed up.

Exchange Block - check!

Driving over the mountain to visit grands had a nice view. We should have snow up there for awhile considering all the wonderful snow we received last year.

The lakes are still thawing out.

Celestial Star Progress and more...

I completed two more Celestial Star blocks this week. I am honestly surprised at how much time they take.  I still plan to outline embroider the elephants to help them stand out.

I also completed another exchange block.

Not having been truly happy with my border on Tulip Winnings,  I took them off and added a white border before the red one.  I like it much better.

Before

After. You can see the backing fabric I chose.  It is all about friendship which was the quilt retreat theme where I won the blocks.  I love it!

Been enjoying the grands again this week...

Lazy summer days have arrived

Naps, time with grand daughter, motorcycle and pedal bike rides, reading books,  hiking with co- workers, Zoom with friends, and Sewing... yay!

Just one day into break and I am loving it. The days pass more slowly too, and I am savoring them.

These are the round robin blocks I made in May. I mailed them off this morning.

They have been done for awhile all except for the comb on the chicken. I finished it today.

I finally finished these blocks that I started at Scrub Stitchin' in Australia.

Goblin Valley field trip the last week of school...

March swap blocks are done!

I know,  I have missed so much in blogland for awhile. Thank goodness for swap blocks that keep me going and get me sewing a little. Here are the ones I made this week.

Oh. And I finished two baby quilts. Our new little angel received the lighter colored one.

Been sewing swap blocks

Hello blog friends.  Not much sewing has been happening in my neck of the woods, but I did enjoy getting these swap blocks done yesterday after work.

The leaf blocks were a fun method as requested by my stashbee queen this month.

The other three blocks were made for 3 people in a local block swap group I joined this year.  One requested the star in blues and greens while another lady wanted the same star in Halloween fabrics.  It was super fun fussy cutting the pieces from a Halloween fabric I had.

The red and white star block came together with ease.  I did cut the pieces different than the pattern to cut down on half square triangles.  I don't really favor them.

I've been zooming a little and making round robin blocks.

I suppose you could say that I have been quilty social lately.  Last week my Stashbee hive had a little zoom session to get to know each other for the 2023 swap.  The blocks for January will go to Diana and they are little colored kitties.

Here are my stashbee cats.  I made an extra set just because.

Here is a photo of our zoom session.  I look forward to working with you ladies and sewing for you.

I also joined a little block swap that my daughter has been involved in.  It is a beginner group, but I don't care.  I just want to enjoy it with my daughter.  There are 26 people, and they finish I think in November, so some months we do 3 blocks while others we do two.  Here are my blocks for January.  I did just discover that another lady also chose the improv trees, so I need to make her a set as well.

I have also been sewing up braid blocks for when it is my turn.  They will be trimmed into square blocks.

Last weekend I got into my Auzzieness and zoomed with Chooky friends.  I love me a good Chooky visit!!

Different zoom friends came on at different times.
