Carol at Just Let Me Quilt is the mastermind behind this fun little Christmas blog hop. Come enjoy some delicious cookie recipes, cheerful traditions, lovely quilts, and anything Christmas with us!
Being a working woman, I just didn't feel up to baking tonight especially when I made cookies for a real cookie exchange last night. Instead of a plate of my cookies, I am posting a plate of exchanged cookies from my local book club. Our December book discussion with a treat exchange is becoming a wonderful tradition for me. We all wanted to linger. They are all great women. Yes, we spread out and wore masks.
P.S. We ate some before thinking to take a photo.
I brought simple no-bake cookies. I am sure it is not a new recipe to anyone out there, but it is a good one. My favorite thing about them is they are FAST to make and addicting.
NO-BAKE COOKIES
2 C sugar
1/2 C milk
1 stick margarine (I substitute butter)
Combine the above three ingredients. Cook over medium-high heat stirring constantly. When the mixture begins to boil (cannot be stirred down), time and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and add:
2 tsp vanilla
3/4 C peanut butter
2 Tbsp cocoa
3 C quick oatmeal
Drop onto wax paper with a spoon.
Hot Christmas Cyder is a must at our house as well. Give it a try. I use frozen juice from concentrate, but you can use whatever.
Christmas Stories...
I picked up some Christmas stories from the library to read to grands via Zoom; hence the Click Clack Ho Ho Ho book. It's a cute one.
Book Club is reading The Immortal Nicholas for December. It is supposed to be a lovely story that mixes the Santa story with the real Manger story. I am anxious to read it.
Christmas Exchanges...
The quilt behind the cookie plate was gifted to me from my wonderful friend Linda. A small group of quilt friends has exchanged a quilt every Christmas for many years. Here are some others I have received over the years.
Favorite Christmas Tradition
When Santa comes to our house, he attaches yarn to the stocking and then hides the stocking. We awaken Christmas morning to a web of yarn all through the house for each person to unwind and be lead to their stocking. It is so fun!

Your biscuit plate looks great. All the Xmas quilts you have been given are lovely, the first Christmas tree is a special favourite of mine. Just love the wool tradition, that would be such fun!!
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look so good. Lovely Christmas quilts. However I really like the idea of reading to your grandchildren via Zoom.
ReplyDeleteI too love that yarn tradition, it sounds like fun. It might have been a tangle for me growing up with seven siblings but probably just more fun. Keep finding the joy!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your tradition of hiding the stockings and the yarn attached. What a fun way to start the day. That Santa is so creative sometimes. No bake cookies are always a treat and a great exchange cookie. I hadn't even thought of them at Christmas, but they are perfect to take - thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the red and white "feathery" Christmas tree quilt behind the cookie plate, what an amazing design!
ReplyDeleteYour cookies look delicious, and Christmas projects lovely. Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNo bake cookies with peanut butter...yum! Hopefully next year we can all get together for our normal gatherings. You made some amazing Christmas quilts over the years. The string idea sounds incredibly fun! Thank you for sharing and joining in the hop!
ReplyDeleteAt least we have our memories of get together's in the past. While dinner was not an option right now, having all those beautiful quilts to love on, makes it just a little better. I love your stocking hunt idea. How fun is that! I might just make up a batch of Cider this year. That sounds really good! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post! How fun is that yarn attached to the stocking?!!! HAHA - I can just imagine all the fun and laughing that ensues as everyone searches and follows the yarn. Your cookie plate looks delicious and the exchange of quilts is a neat idea, too. Thanks for sharing all this festivity with us. ~smile~ Roseanne
ReplyDeleteHow I wish we had family coming for Christmas - I would SO do that scavenger hunt idea for stockings!
ReplyDeleteIt would be fun to wake up in your house on Christmas morning and get to follow the strings. Thank you for sharing your lovely quilts and recipe.
ReplyDeleteLol, the yarn in the kitchen is so funny. It sounds like a great tradition.
ReplyDeleteOh what a fun post! I loved reading of your traditions. The treasure hunt for the stockings is so much fun! I’ll have to suggest it to my granddaughter and daughters in law. 😉. Reading to the littles by Zoom is genius idea. Your quilt show is so beautiful! I think I might need to try your no bake cookies 😉
ReplyDeleteLovely Christmas tree wall hanging, especially next to the beautiful orchid (I have 60!)
ReplyDeleteThose No Bake cookies sound yummy! Thanks for sharing the recipe! My local quilt group does a gift exchange of quilted items every year, too, and we always have such a fun time. It is hard to give that up this year, but we decided we'd better not risk the get together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely post celebrating the season. Your group sounds lovely and their cookies look delicious.
