Friday Five 15 Min to Stitch, Linkies and Winter Quilts are out!

I awoke this morning to a beautiful crystal world!

It inspired me to put those Christmas quilts away (so sad) and bring out some winter ones.  My Sliced Quilt is a prize for me to finally have finished and will remain on the wall for yet another month.  I just can't put it away.

A finish from last year used to hang in that spot, but it has moved to the entryway.

This one has been done for years.

I am linking up with Lynette's BOMs Away.

Below is my first 15 minutes to stitch report for 2020.

Friday Five Linkup

I am also trying to read a little bit this year.  I love reading, but it is hard to find time with a full time job.  Mostly I just listen to audio books.

For my "five" book list, I am selecting one book I  will be reading with my book club this month, a book I try to read from every day and have reread several times, two I read in October and November, and one I am reading with my reading class at school.

1.  I joined a local book club in October, and we are reading Mutany on the Bounty for January.  All I know about this story is a mutiny that happens on a ship.  I think it is a true story.  This one was written by Nordhoff and Hall.  The reader on the audio book is excellent!

2.  We read Frankenstein in October and...

3.  Good Omens in November

I did not even realize what a classic Frankenstein was.  I thought it would be scary, but it was not.  I really came to love the monster and dislike his creator.  It is beautifully written with amazing description.

Good Omens was humorous and a little hard to follow because a lot was going on.  It didn't matter though because the humor kept me rolling.  There are many characters.  As discussed at book club, the puns and references to other books, history, and movies were many.

4.  I teach a reading class 8th hour three days a week.  We have been reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.  Sometimes we listen to the amazing narrator, Jim Dale, as we follow along.  The students love hearing him read it so much.  It sucks them into the story, and many are reading it on their own at home and moving onto other books in the series.

5.  The Book of Mormon is AMAZING!  I try to read it cover to cover a couple of times a year.  It is full of true and inspiring stories that really guide me in my own life when I compare its analogies to myself.  It is an ancient spiritual record written by the early inhabitants of the American Continent.  It begins in Jerusalem and carries a people across the ocean.  It is a must read!

  1. I haven't read any of the books you mentioned, and really think I should since they are classics. I will see if the library has these audio books. I like them when they have good narrators.

  6. All pretty and white, at least when you are able to stay in and you don't have to drive in it. You've gotten a good start to your stitchy year. Thanks for linking up with the 15 minutes to stitch this week, I hope it helps keep you on track with your projects.

  7. I am loving the new BOM videos. Do you have your scriptures on your phone? If so, as you read along, look on the right side for a little icon and click on it. The new videos are there, and some art work too. I am really enjoying the Come Follow Me already, and it is only day 9!!
