I have been making camp quilts for Christmas!

I made a camp quilt for each of my kid's families and one for myself for Christmas.  Two are in the photo below and the third is wrapped and off to Nevada.  These quilts are even great to just keep in your car for emergencies.  We live in a high desert of the Rocky Mountains where the temperatures can easily fluctuate within 40 degrees in 24 hours.  It is always good to have emergency items in your car.  We also live and/or travel in remote places.

My friend gave me these pre-cut, heavy fabric squares and taught me how to do folded inserts for bow tie blocks.  She even gave me the backing fabric.  I love the peekos on the edges.

I tied mine and didn't love it, so I just used the quilting machine and did a little notch stitch where the ties would go on all the others.

This denim quilt top was made by my husband many years ago.  My friend insisted that I get it finished for him for Christmas.  DONE!

  1. Cute little camp quilts! I was wondering how you would quilt the bow tie quilt with the dimensional blocks, but tying it is a great idea.

I'm looking forward to reading the reaction of the finished denim quilt when it is gifted.

    Merry Christmas.
