May recap!

May is a busy time of year when you are a teacher.  It seems there are always a lot of school activities the last month and activities need teacher chaperones.  When a teacher is gone they work super hard to prepare for a substitute and grade school work upon their return.  Then there are those failing students who decide right up to the last minute that they might want to actually turn in some work.  My cut off dates always give me a little time, but it is still extra busy.

The day school got out my husband and I took a week long road trip back to the Ozarks of Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma.  It was a wonderful trip, and I blogged about some of the hand projects I achieved during that time.  We didn't really decide to go until early May, so my goals didn't reflect me being away from my machine for a week.

Needless to say, I didn't meet all my goals this busy May, but I can feel really good about what I did accomplish.

My One Monthly goal for May did not get quilted, but I did manage to get it basted.

I did completely finish my Christmas Log Cabin Quilt. This and the quilt above were my UFO challenge  projects for May and #12 on the list I comprised back in December.

We started a new round of our family round robin and I am the facilitator.  Eight people mailed me their fabric for the project.  I remailed it to the participants so they would not know who they are planning and kitting a quilt for.  It is so much fun!  I intended to take photos of the fabric bundles, but forgot on most of them.   Sorry.  Here are a couple though.

I made a plan for the fabric in the photo above.  I have not yet begun to cut, but I plan to make this quilt out of it.

I did manage to kit one of the round robin quilts and get it sent off.

I made the pig and dog blocks which are not quite done yet.  I sent off cows and goats.  I will have finished photos of them soon when it comes to me to pass to someone who lives by me.

I was able to force myself to get one more house block paper pieced.  These houses are adorable but take so much time that it is hard to motivate myself to do them.  I still need to make two more.

I finished the April section for Pieceful Country including the hand work.

I cut out the 26 flowers for three Buggy Barn quilts I want to make.  The same flower is in all three quilts.

I basted for my son's Bear Paw Quilt, but I didn't take a picture with the basting in it.

I didn't complete my Bear Paw Top but I cut out the pine trees.  These are the last blocks I need to make for it.

I made 6 bags for Mother's Day gifts.  I so hope to make myself one some day.

I didn't work on my school kid's barn quilt at all.  I have decided to finish some other things instead and maybe save this one for 2019.

  5. My goodness! You sure got a lot done. I love your Christmas log cabin quilt and the striped binding on it is so perfect. You definitely need a bag for yourself after making 6 for others! The house block looks fantastic, but I can see how it would be really time consuming. Thanks for linking to TGIFF this week :)

  6. Hi Deana,
First of all I absolutely LOVE Strip Bursts!! So darn cute and unique looking. I'm sorry about your May OMG but that log cabin quilt looks lovely on your bed - it will be so nice later this year to snuggle under. That round robin is so intriguing.
    Happy Tuesday! ~smile~ Roseanne
