15 Minutes to Stitch Challenge

Surfing the web today I discovered a new challenge I just had to join.  It is called 15 Minutes to Stitch which means you try to stitch at least 15 minutes every day.  The challenge does allow for us to cater to our own needs so that time can be adjusted.  Well, I definitely sew at least that every day but Sundays.  For me the Sabbath is a day of rest and a day to be treated different from other days, so I don't sew on that one day a week.

I looked over my 2018 calendar and all my sewing/quilty goals and surmised that I sewed 23 days in January and 22 days in February.  I have sewn 11 days in March.

This year:  56 out of 74 days
This month:  12 out of 14 days
This week:  6 out of 7
76% is where I am at.  I would like to get that up to 80% although 76% is pretty good.

After returning from my weekend trip, I put my two embroidery blocks on the design wall with the other blocks.  I have the square in a square blocks in the wrong place.  They go on the far right, but I was experimenting.  I have decided to make all the units but wait to assemble them in case I want to shift or move things around for "looks".  I love the blocks in this quilt but don't necessarily like the layout.  For example, my gorgeous ebroidered house block that took many hours just doesn't pop.  It needs more white space around it and a location in the quilt where it can be a focal point.

Last night after work I made 48 log cabin blocks, 24 of each kind.

They will go around this quilt center.

The final product is going to be this:

I am really making my way toward a flimsy this month on this intensely pieced quilt.  There are a ton of pieces.  I still have more than 58 blocks left.

I also finished quilting the border on my spring quilt but don't have a photo to show today.

  10. Welcome to the 15 minutes to stitch challenge. I learned last year that managing a 100% just really isn't realistic for most of us. When you think about it, managing to find time to stitch 75% of the year is really pretty significant. You've got some gorgeous projects in the works! Hope you got in lots of stitching time this week. Thanks for linking up.
