One block at a time makes a quilt or two.

I am excited to have a few more blocks completed in some of my "Create Your Own BOM" projects!

First off, my daughter has been making the princess quilt with me.  This has been her first experience with paper pieces, and let me tell you, she is absolutely addicted.  She is also having her second baby in July and wants these blocks done before her life gets a little crazier.  Because she is on a roll, I am trying to keep up as best I can.  My goal was one princess per month, but she did three this month.  I was able to squeeze out Pocahontas (my second princess this month), but that may be all I can do until April.

Here is my Pocahontas:

Here is her Pocahontas:

I really like her darker skin, but I didn't have any.  I live too far from a fabric store to just run out and get it.
Also, here is her Belle.  I did my Belle on a pink background and LOVE it, but hers is so gorgeous too!

I made a couple more NYB blocks these past few days as well.  My original plan was 1 a week, but I am way ahead of schedule.  My cousin who is making this with me has made 13 this month.  I feel driven to keep up, but I am short 6 blocks to do so.  We shall see what this coming week brings.

I also finished some stockings for my Christmas Row Quilt.  I don't favor them nearly as much as my elf leg blocks, but these were so fun to make and gave me a break from paper piecing.

I have been machine quilting a little and hope to have a finished Snow Globe quilt to show by the end of the week.

  1. It must take a good bit of time to do each NYB block - you guys are rolling right along on those! I *love* your daughter's background fabric on her Pocahontas - as soon as I scrolled it up, it made my mind call up the musical score at "paint with all the colors of the wind". Very cool.

  2. Good Morning! Your daughter's blocks are just as beautiful as yours are. You both are inspiring me to do this but the PP aspect is holding me back. I think this is your daughter's first experience with PP? Can I do that? It looks so hard, but oh so gorgeous. I love both Pocahontas blocks. I'm back here cheering you both on! AND your NYB block is beyond gorgeous too. ~smile~ Roseanne
