Deana: Wedding photos at last & Quilts Too!

I don't usually post photos of personal things, but since I posted photos of daughter #2's wedding in May I thought it only fair to post photos of daughter #1 as well.  Daughter #1 married a cowboy who likes flat hats.  My son is also a cowboy but he likes "taco hats".  They like to tease each other a little about the differences.  So, even though his hat gives him an Amish look, he is not Amish. He bought my daughter a hat for her birthday to go with his as you will see in some of the wedding photos.

My daughter is a wonderful person who loves all people and easily overlooks everyone's faults.  After high school she served an 18 month mission in Russia for our church where she learned to speak the language fluently and made many wonderful friends.  She has been home just over a year now.

They were married in the Manti Temple.  It is a very sacred place where covenants are made with God and families are sealed together forever.  Their future children will be included in that sealing ordinance where families are joined together.  Family is everything and continues on throughout eternity.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has built temples all over the world.  Before the temples are dedicated to the Lord, they are open to the public to come inside on a free tour.  They are so beautiful!  The Manti Temple, shown below, has two unique spiral staircases that climb to to the top towers.  There are few like them in the world.

Below is a photo of my growing family:  Daughter #2 and her husband of 7 months, Daughter #1 and her new husband, me, my wonderful and perfect husband of 25 years, and son.  While my husband and new son in law look very tall, they are only about 6 ft 1 or 2.  The rest of us are just very short.  I am only 5 ft tall.

After the wedding we had a reception party at our church.  We displayed several quilts, but I don't currently have photos of the displays except for one shown below.  We had dancing at the wedding reception and you can see my husband and I in front of one of the quilts.

Here are some other quilts I made for the couple.

I am linking up today with Freemotion by the River, Scraptastic Tuesday, BOM's Away, Main Crush Monday, Monday Making, Design Board Monday, and Patchwork Times Design Wall Monday.

  10. Quilting gives us such insights into other parts of the world! An Amish ;), Mormon cowboy wedding is not something I can imagine ever seeing here! It looks like a really fun celebration. I love weddings with lots of dancing.
