Pine Tree quilt

Dorine, you have inspired me to do another Dorinda quilt. I have wanted to do this one for a long time, but have been too intimidated to try. Now, seeing yours complete and in use has inspired me to try. This is the first block. I am having a problem with getting the lower section lie flat, so am not finished with it yet, but wanted to share with you all on my next project. I am doing the tree in 1/2 square triangles, and after unpicking a few times, have figured that part out. The pattern in the book does not seem to fix as exact as I would like it too, so it is a work in progress.

  1. Hey, cool! That is a great pattern. I may try it myself some time. From trial and error, my suggestion to get things to fit better would be to draw the block on a piece of freezer paper and then see if the pattern in the book lines up with it, and if it does you probably need to make sure that your seams are not too wide, making your green and white part a little smaller than it should be. Happy sewing. Can't wait to see it finished.

  2. I tried that and it is just the way I sewed them together. On my next block I will take pictures of each step along the way. The pattern in the book fits together perfectly. I cut them out and played with that idea and now it is looking better.
